Caffeine is the name for the new algorithm that Google are going to use to improve their search results. Released on June 8th, Caffeine promises to deliver faster searches and improved quality. When a change like this comes it can cause a lot of worry among those who depend on SEO to promote their web content. So will Google Caffeine have a big effect on SEO? Does it mean that we all need to go back to the drawing board?
Well for the moment at least, things are looking bright. Google Caffeine has now been up and running for over a week and there has been no real noticeable change as to how things are appearing in search engines. There have been no stories of people who were previously top of the results for their keywords suddenly finding they are off the radar. This does not mean of course that Google Caffeine will not have an eventual impact on SEO, but just not a revolutionary one.

If they don’t stay on top of this a new search engine could come along and knock them off their perch. Google are getting better all the time and the lesson for the rest of us is that we should make quality of our content more important than SEO. Even though there have not been any sudden changes to things on the web, it is clear that if you want your online business to be a success in the future, you will have to ensure that content is high up on your agenda. In order words we need to stop trying to please the web crawlers and algorithms and focus more on pleasing our visitors – that way we just can’t lose.
